Lets Elevate your off piste skiing - Niseko -Located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido, Niseko is famous for its consistent snowfall and light, dry powder. The Niseko United ski area offers excellent pistes, abundant off-piste powder, tree skiing, and short backcountry touring options.
Lift-access powder terrain around Mount Niseko Annupuri provides ideal conditions for developing off-piste skills in Niseko’s renowned deep snow. The resort’s extensive tree skiing is perfect for building confidence in powder and variable terrain.
Ski touring
Short skins from the top lifts lead to quieter bowls and backcountry terrain around Mount Niseko Annupuri.
Steep terrain
For more adventurous skiers, steeper lines and sidecountry descents can be found beyond the resort gates, offering classic powder runs through volcanic terrain.

Travel Suggestion: Niseko is located on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido and is most easily accessed via New Chitose Airport. Fly from the UK (for example from London Heathrow Airport) New Chitose Airport, usually via Tokyo. From the airport, Niseko is approximately 2–3 hours our hired minibus.

Day 1
Shakedown
Find our ‘ski legs’, get comfortable with our group, practice use of safety equipment, and size up the off piste terrain

Sample Itinerary

- Day 0: Departure.
- Day 1: Arrive at New Chitose Airport and drive to Sapporo. Overnight at a city hotel with easy access to local restaurants and attractions.
- Day 2: Lift-accessed freeride and ski touring at Sapporo Teine, located just 45 minutes from the city center.
- Day 3: Lift-accessed freeride and ski touring at Kiroro, known for deep powder and excellent backcountry gates. Drive to Niseko in the evening.
- Day 4: Ski touring in the Niseko area, with options ranging from birch forest storm skiing to the steep slopes of Shiribetsudake.
- Day 5: Lift-accessed touring at Niseko United or Rusutsu, utilizing backcountry gates to explore the Niseko range.
- Day 6: Mt. Yotei ski touring. This iconic volcano, known as "Ezo Fuji," is a highlight for any skier.
- Day 7: Transfer to central Hokkaido. We will ski or freeride at a resort along the way before arriving at our hotel in Asahikawa.
- Day 8: Ski touring in the Daisetsuzan mountain range, featuring deep powder and alpine terrain, followed by a visit to a trailhead onsen.
- Day 9: Ski tour at Asahidake, the highest mountain in Hokkaido. We will use the ropeway to access the volcano’s fumaroles and summit.
- Day 10: Ski touring north of Asahikawa. This area offers excellent tree skiing and steep bowls directly from the mountain pass.
- Day 11: Lift-accessed touring at Kurodake. We will take the ropeway and tour to the summit for wide-open powder descents.
- Day 12: Ski touring at Furanodake to enjoy deep, cold powder in north-facing terrain. Transfer to Sapporo for a final night out.
- Day 13: Fly to Tokyo or home from New Chitose Airport.
Participant Requirements
Fitness
You should have a good level of fitness and be able to walk uphill for several hours.
Ski Level
You can ski comfortably on all on piste terrain. We welcome both intermediate and more experienced off piste skier
Equipment
Skis and boots suitable for freeride/touring are required. Ask about minimun ski width for this trip.
