Itinerary

Day 1

Hut Approach & Glacier Skills

Travel to the Moiry Glacier and hike to Cabane de Moiry (2825m). After settling in, we’ll head onto the glacier for crampon practice, rope systems, and crevasse rescue techniques. Evening session on weather, maps, and route planning.

Day 2

Summit & Skills Consolidation

Early alpine start for an ascent of Pigne de la Lé (3396m). This day focuses on applying glacier travel and ropework skills in real terrain. After descending to the hut, we return to the valley and review the day.

Day 3

Rock Ridge & Movement Skills

From Saas Grund, we tackle the Jagihorn via ferrata or a similar alpine ridge. Focus on movement over rock, pitched climbing, and rope techniques in mixed terrain. Return to the valley late afternoon.

Day 4

High Mountain Hut & Summit Prep

Hike to the Almageller Hut (2894m), beautifully positioned for access to the south ridge of Weissmies. In the afternoon, we’ll revisit glacier travel and ropework, and discuss summit strategy and conditions. The evening includes a team planning session for the following day’s ascent. Overnight at the hut.

Day 5

Alpine Summit

Early start for a summit such as Weissmies (4017m) or Lagginhorn (4010m). A big day where all skills come together in a full alpine outing. Return to Saas Grund by late afternoon.

Day 6

Alpine Planning & Navigation Workshop

A lower-intensity day focused on alpine trip planning, GPS and map navigation, weather interpretation, and risk management. This final day offers a chance to consolidate learning and prepare for independent alpine adventures. Course debrief and individual feedback wrap up the week.
