This course is designed to help you build confidence and competence as a second on winter climbs. Over the four days, you’ll develop essential skills such as ropework, movement on steep ground, and using technical equipment, all while seconding a range of classic winter routes. The aim is to leave you feeling capable, safe, and self-reliant as a second in winter climbing teams.

Participant Requirements
Fitness
This course suits confident summer rock climbers or scramblers who are ready to develop their winter climbing ability in a hands-on, supportive setting.
Level
You should have some mountain experience and basic ropework knowledge.
Previous winter climbing is not required, but familiarity with crampons, ice axe, and belaying is helpful.
Equipment
You’ll need winter clothing, boots, and basic climbing kit including axe, crampons, helmet, and harness.
